Ford Expedition Timberline Off-Grid Concept Is Perfect For Adventures

This year's Ford Expedition will be available in a more rugged Timberline trim level, and Ford showcased a concept vehicle focused around overlanding in Arrington, Virginia at the Overland Expo East show. Ford Expedition Timberline Off-Grid concept gains 2.0 inches of ground clearance above the normal 10.6 inches thanks to Fox Performance Elite Series 2.5-inch shocks with the firm's Dual Speed Compression tech and independent reservoirs front and rear, which are based on the Timberline model.
The SUV rides on Method Race 17-inch wheels with General Grabber 35-inch all-terrain tires. Lightbars fitted above and below the grille, as well as a bespoke topographical map wrap over the Expedition's Forged Green paintwork, are among the other exterior alterations.
A Thule Tepui Explorer rooftop tent, a transmission cover, a Wild Land portable privacy toilet, and an Overland Vehicle Systems Nomadic 180-degree pull-out awning are among the extras included in the prototype, which Ford says will be available through dealerships.
The Expedition also provides indoor sleeping spaces if the rooftop tent isn't appealing. To accommodate the increased electrical needs of running a campsite, Ford fitted a Clarions AGM battery.
A Turtleback Expedition Series trailer was also made, with wheels, tires, and graphics that matched the SUV. A two-burner propane stove, a deep-well sink, 2 drop-down tables, a 42-gallon water tank, and a 6-gallon water heater with an external showering attachment are all included in the trailer. It can also be fitted with a 100-watt solar panel, according to Ford.
Ford Expedition Timberline Off-Grid concept retains its 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 engine, which produces 380 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. For 2022, the motor and 10-speed automatic gearbox will remain the same. By the first quarter of 2022, the 2022 Ford Expedition should be in dealerships.
Updated design, a larger touchscreen, and Ford's BlueCruise driver-assist system are all available on the top-of-the-line Platinum model. Ford Expedition Timberline is joined in the portfolio by the Stealth Performance.
