Find out what car models battle this is year for the "European Car of the Year"

Recently, the list with the 40 candidates for the "European Car of the Year" contest was published. This is not the final list, it may change until December 1st, as other automobiles might join it.
This year's edition of the contest "European Car of the Year" announces some changes in the rules and regulations of the competition. The organizers decided to accept automobiles that have a production limit of 5000 units annually. In this way cars like Toyota Mirai, McLaren 570s, and Mercedes-AMG GT are also a part of the contest.
Same as before, the contest's finalist will be announced in March of 2016, during the Geneva Motor Show. Below you can see the participants that will fight for the title:

The winner of "European Car of the Year" 2015 was the 8th generation, Volkswagen Passat, overtaking Citroen C4 Cactus and Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which occupied the second and third places respectively. Till that moment the title of European Car of the Year was held by Peugeot 308 and Volkswagen Golf Mk 7.
