Did You Know That IIHS Rates The Headlights?
by AutoExpert | 16 December, 2020
The Insurance Institute for Highway started testing headlights in 2016, and at the first one, only 2 models out of 95 achieved a good rating. Intrigued what’s in line for the 2020 models?
Rectifying this huge problem helped creating the IIHS’s Top Safety PICK (TSP) and TSP+ ratings, which requires cars to create models with good or exceptional headlights.
After testing 185 2020 models, the result was better and an amount of 85 cars had good ratings. The continuous developments are much better on the 2021 models.
IIHS is mainly testing the on-roads performance of the vehicle’s light, how much of the road is illuminated in the high beam and low beam conditions, and the excessive glare received from the oncoming vehicles.
Good light makes night driving safer and avoid crashes with potential hazards on the road. Drive safely.
