This is a radical car concept, forward for the 2012 IndyCar races, by Delta Wing LLC, from Indianapolis. The concept was presented at the 2010 Chicago Auto Show and, according to the producers, it introduced a new manner of racing in the future.
The onboard technologies allow Delta to reach high performances with engines half as powerful as its predecessors. The aerodynamic principles and the lightweight materials help ensure a proper distribution on the Firestone Firehawk tires, which have been specially designed for Delta Wing.
The car has low fuel consumption, without having its performances affected. The total weight of Delta is equal to approximately half a regular Racers IndyCar, which also improves the aerodynamic resistance.
The maximum speed exceeds 235 mph, this being possible thanks to the 4 cylinder turbo engine, with a capacity of 2 liters.
The power of the car reaches 300 hp, at a 7000 rpm torque.
