Ferdinand Porsche - Porsche
The renowned German automotive company was founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche, the engineer who created the first Volkswagen Beetle. The company was named "Dr. Ing. Hc F. Porsche GmbH".
The first Porsche model, a Porsche 64, was designed in 1939 using many components from the Volkswagen Beetle.
Ferdinand Porsche's son, Ferry Porsche, decided to go ahead and build their own car because he could not find an existing one that would meet his requirements. The first models of what later would become the model 356 were built in a small workshop in Austria and had an aluminum body. The first model is considered to be Porsche 356 only because it was the first sold by the company after being approved in 1948.
Two years later, on 30 January 1951, Ferdinand Porsche died after suffering a stroke.
