Sotheby's auction house in New York seems to think this Bugatti Type 57C Atalante is. It was first displayed at the 1939 World's Fair in New York.
It is probably one of the most legendary classic cars ever. It will hit the auction block in December. Talk about "retro" this would be the epitome of "retro". It just has an air of sophistication about it and it was masterfully handcrafted. The car even for its age is in stunning good repair. It is powered by a DOHC straight 8 engine turning out 160 HP.
That is an amazing amount of power for a 1938 model car and surely contributed to the 10 year-long racing career it had in its day. There were only 32 of them produced and only 12 of those were made entirely of aluminum. A 1937 model of the same car sold for $8.5 million in a 2013 auction in California.
Sotheby's is expecting this baby to bring in the neighborhood of $10 million when it hits the auction block in December.
