BYD Introduces The Denza D9 Gorgeous Minivan
by AutoExpert | 26 February, 2024
The 2024 Geneva Motor Show is in full swing, with the Denza D9 minivan taking center stage. This European debut marks the automaker's arrival on the continent. As a reminder, Denza Company is a collaboration between Chinese automaker BYD and Mercedes.
Mercedes reduced its stake to 10% in 2021, fueling Denza’s transformation from a prime electric vehicle producer into a luxury brand.
The Denza D9 has a boxy shape with large electrically operated sliding doors and a spacious interior for passengers. The cabin features leather upholstery, power-adjustable seats, ventilation, and massaging functions. In the second row, you'll find a rear-seat entertainment system and a small fridge. USB ports are plentiful.
Technical details about the European model are unknown at this point, but there will be plug-in hybrid and fully electric versions of this van in China. Those models get powertrains such as a turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine mated to electric motors for various levels of performance, from 137 horses on base models to 401 hp on all-wheel drive models.
For EV duty only, the Denza D9 offers impressively long range estimates: up to 385 miles is possible on China's NEDC test cycle for front-drive versions. Rapid charging sees ranges increase by up to 143 miles in just 15 minutes at maximum power.
There's also an N7 SUV being shown alongside this new minivan at Geneva. This one is fully electric and has an estimated driving range of approximately 354 miles.
