Bugatti Bolide Track Hypercar Showcases A Unique Monocoque Design
by AutoExpert | 12 September, 2023
Bugatti Bolide track hypercar is seriously impressive when it comes to safety features. Bugatti has pulled out all the stops by equipping this track-only hypercar with FIA-spec safety tech, a standard you usually see in Formula 1 and Le Mans racing cars.
They've even subjected it to some intense crash tests. In one test, the A-pillar took on a massive 7.5-ton load without cracking.
The B-pillar was even more resilient, handling a mind-boggling 12 tons in the second test. There was a third test involving a 6-ton load applied longitudinally to the car's monocoque. Christian Willmann, Bugatti's Chief Engineer for the Bolide, described the rigorous preparation process for these tests.
Bugatti left no stone unturned, optimizing everything about the monocoque, from its structure to the thickness of its walls. They even used a super-high-strength carbon material, the world's best of its kind. All this engineering effort ensures that the Bolide is not just a speed demon on the track but also incredibly safe. Moreover, it meets the strict safety standards set by the FIA.
That's not all. Bugatti has added extra layers of safety, including a military-grade fire extinguisher system, FIA-approved six-point seat harnesses, and seat headrests that comply with GT3 racing regulations. Customers will get their hands on the Bolide in 2024, and Bugatti has truly left no room for compromise!
