Lunaz is one of the most courageous British-based companies that turns classic high-end British metal into rapid electric cars with zero-emissions. They already succeeded and offer electric conversions of an original Range Rover, Rolls Royce Phantom V, and a Jaguar XK120. Now, it’s time for a vintage Bentley to complete their list.
The vintage 1961 Bentley S3 Continental Flying Spur, originally powered by the all-alloy 6.2-liter L-Series Rolls Royce/Bentley V8 and it’s the predecessor of the current Flying Spur. Without any specific details revealed, it’s possible that the original S3’s will adopt the same motor and battery previously used for the Rolls Royce Cloud conversion.
If you would see this Bentley on the street you would think that it traveled through time back to the future. The previous conversions were fitted with a pair of electric motors that combined deliver up to 375 hp and 700Nm power of torque to the rear wheels, which means that the Lunaz version will double its previous performance.
Lunaz company says that its 80kWh battery has a 300 miles range between charges, so this should be enough to enjoy the Bentley. Also, there would be upgrades to the Continental brakes and suspension, an electrically assisted steering setup addition, and modern technology, such as an air conditioning system, a retro-looking infotainment display with an Apple CarPlay feature.
With an exterior finish in two-tone green color as the owner requested, you can order an S3 painted in any other color that pleases your driver's instinct. Also, older S1 and S2 Continentals will be converted. You can even choose between a two-door and a convertible car. The conversion process will cost you at least $486,000. The main company’s goal is to promote and inspire other companies to upgrade their existing vehicles to clean energy. A clever idea, indeed!
