Bold In Black: Genesis Unveils Striking GV80 And Coupe Black Editions
by AutoExpert | 4 October, 2024
Genesis has joined the Black Edition trend with its new GV80 Black and GV80 Coupe Black, both featuring an unmistakably bold and dark aesthetic. While many automakers have jumped on the Black Edition bandwagon over the years, these two models from Genesis stand out, earning a special nod for their truly striking design.
These latest additions aren’t Genesis' first dip into Black Editions. They follow in the footsteps of the G90 Black sedan, which launched in Korea back in March 2024. Everything about the exterior screams sleek, from the blacked-out grille and bumper intakes to the darkened emblems, roof racks, and bumper moldings.
The dark metallic finish even adorns the Genesis logo on the tailgate, contributing to the overall stealthy vibe. Genesis has further enhanced the theme by blacking out the headlight bezels. Both the GV80 and the Coupe version sit on 22-inch black alloy wheels with floating black center caps, a subtle yet luxe touch that Genesis says is unique to their Black vehicles—perhaps hinting at some Rolls-Royce inspiration. Inside, the dark theme continues.
Black accents touch nearly every surface, from the switches and knobs to the glass details. The quilted leather seats, floor mats, and headliner also follow suit, giving the cabin a premium feel. One standout feature is the black wood garnish that decorates the dashboard, center console, and door panels, adding a sophisticated edge. For 2025, the GV80 lineup gets a mid-cycle refresh, coinciding with the debut of the GV80 Coupe.
Aside from a few exterior updates, the interior also gets a significant upgrade with a new 27-inch OLED display. Genesis has not yet confirmed whether the Genesis GV80 Black Editions will be available with all available powertrains or limited to Korea, leaving fans of the brand outside the country to speculate.
