BMW Will Celebrate 50 Years Of M Performance At Rolex 24

BMW M4 GT4 is the most recent racecar to hit the world's racetracks, with the 60th Rolex 24 at Daytona being the next event. This will be one of several opportunities for BMW to mark its performance division's 50th anniversary.
It will not only compete for the prize, but it will also display a number of its classic models, both new and old, during the weekend. BMW North America will make its presence felt at Daytona by bringing several cars that were vital in the creation of the company's M division.
For a series of parade laps, legendary models such as the 1980 BMW M1 and more recent offerings such as the BMW i4 M50 will be on the course. Three unique IMSA-winning BMW M cars will be on exhibit, reflecting the company's history of competitiveness. The 1975 3.0 CSL, 2015 Z4 GTLM, and the more current M8 GTE, which won the 2019 Rolex 24, are among them.
BMW M will continue to sponsor the Endurance Challenge IMSA Michelin Pilot race and the four-hour Challenge race for the GT4 category, demonstrating its commitment to the sport.
"Naturally, we are very proud to have played a role in a good portion of the history of BMW Motorsport," said Bobby Rahal, BMW M Team RLL Team Principal. “We are super excited about racing the new M4 GT3. Once again introducing a new race car to BMW fans like we have done with the M3, M6, M8, and Z4. We have been fortunate to have success with each of those cars which makes it exciting to embark on this new project and hopefully have more success with this great new chassis in 2022,” he added.
