In a press conference, Bentley's chief engineer confirmed that in the near future their new Bentayga SUV will be equipped with a diesel engine. Although no technical details of the new engine were disclosed, it will use e-turbo technology which will first debut in the most performant production Audi Q7.
Most likely this will be a 4.0-liter V8 suitably modified to accommodate new technologies. Unconfirmed rumors indicate a total of 435 horsepower and up to 1,000 Nm of torque. The engine would be presented first on Audi SQ7 SUVs in the coming years and will later be fitted on the Bentley.
It is possible that the diesel engine could produce more power in the Bentayga body maintaining its status as a luxury and performance car, but even so, both models will be able to boast a low fuel consumption and enviable dynamics. The boost in performances will be also obtained through the exclusion of the turbo-lag phenomenon!
