Ford's new Tourneo van lineup in Europe now has an all-electric motor alongside plug-in hybrid and diesel engines. The new E-Tourneo electric van features a battery with a capacity of 74 kilowatt-hours, which translates to an expected range of 230 miles.
Meanwhile, the 215 hp comes from an electric motor. The Tourneo also has a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which mates a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine with an electric motor.
The 31-mile electric driving range is a result of the 11.8 kWh battery. There is also the option of a diesel motor. Power outputs range from 134 hp to 148 hp to 168 hp, depending on the customer's needs. There's an eight-speed automatic and a six-speed manual transmission to choose from. All-wheel drive is another option for purchasers.
The diesel-powered vehicle can tow up to 5,512 pounds in certain configurations. Regardless of the vehicle's wheelbase, all Tourneos include an interior with three rows of seats. Eight passengers can sit in the electric van, while nine can "squeeze" into the larger vans with alternative powertrains.
The new Tourneo's numerous amenities ensure that passengers can relax on the road, including a panoramic glass roof and B&O audio with 14 speakers. Inside, customers will also see a digital instrument cluster and a 13-inch infotainment screen using the Sync 4 software.
