Abarth's New F595 Car Borrows Its Engine From Tatuus F4 Race Car

Abarth's latest special edition claims to deliver the ultimate hot hatch bragging rights: an engine derived from an actual racecar. The Tatuus single-seat Formula 4 race vehicle, from which the F595 takes its engine, employs a reworked version of Abarth 500's 1.4-liter turbocharged four generating 160 hp in the German and Italian  F4 racers.

The new Abarth F595 is powered by a 1.4-liter four-cylinder T-Jet engine that produces 165 hp (167 PS/123 kW) and 169 pound-feet (230 Nm) of torque. It is based on Fiat 500.

The engine is equipped with a Garrett supercharger with a 9:1 geometric compression ratio that provides maximum torque at 2,250 rpm. With the manual transmission, the auto accelerates to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.3 s, and the 5-speed sequential gearbox in 7.4 s.

Abarth installed a Record Monza Sovrapposto dynamic exhaust with four pipes, two stacked from each side of the car's rear end, to guarantee the car sounded right. When a Scorpion mode switch is pressed within the cabin, the exhaust becomes louder, the throttle response becomes more forceful, and the power steering becomes firmer.

Abarth's new F595 comes equipped with Koni rear shocks with Frequency Selective Damping systems that keep everything under control. It also has vented brake discs created by Abarth that measure 284 mm in front and 240 mm in back.

The car comes with 17-inch Formula alloy wheels, an F595 identification logo on the rear, and fog lamps. It is offered in hatchback and convertible versions. It goes in white, black, and three shades of grey, with Rally Blue design cues on all of them.

Abarth 595, which was created to mark the 50th anniversary of Carlo Abarth's Formula Italia single-seat race car, is now available for preorder in the UK for £20,305 (USD 28,000).
