2025 MINI Cooper Unveiled: Classic Charm Meets Modern Muscle
by AutoExpert | 8 February, 2024
We’re bringing you the lowdown on the latest from MINI – yeah, the iconic little car that's been zipping around cities and starring in chase scenes since forever. Well, hold onto your hats because the 2025 MINI Cooper is rolling out, and guess what? It’s sticking with good ol’ gasoline power, packing up to 201 horsepower to boot.
Starting price? A cool $28,950, plus a little extra for destination fees.
So, a few months back, MINI showed off their all-electric Cooper, making all the EV fans do a happy dance. The good news is that internal combustion engines get to be powering both the standard Cooper and the Cooper S available in the US. The 2,0-liter four cylinder engines will rev up Cooper S with 201 hp at a 221 lb-ft of torque. This makes touching the first 60 mph in as little as 6.3 seconds.
The base model Cooper’s performance details are still unrevealed.
MINI's playing it a bit coy with the full specs for the U.S. base model, hinting it might have a bit more oomph thanks to its 2.0-liter engine. We'll have to hang tight for the full scoop as we get closer to its stateside debut.
Now, if you're wondering what sets the combustion-powered Coopers apart from their EV sibling, visually, it’s pretty subtle – think slightly beefier grilles but still rocking those signature circular LED daytime running lights and those distinctive triangular matrix taillights at the back.
Underneath, MINI promises a ride that’s all about nimble handling, thanks to a tweaked suspension and damping system. And while they're keeping mum on the specifics of the brakes and transmission (sorry, manual lovers, it looks like that option’s off the table), they’re hinting at some pretty robust stopping power.
Safety’s also getting a major boost with a radar sensor up front, 12 ultrasonic sensors dotted around, and a suite of driver assistance features that even include a Safe Exit function to keep cyclists and other road users safe from unexpected door openings.
Tech-wise, the new Cooper is no slouch, offering onboard navigation with 3D visuals, advanced augmented view, and even support for a digital key through the MINI app. Inside, it’s all about style and comfort with a round OLED display, a panoramic glass roof, wireless charging for your gadgets, and a chic two-tone textile dash.
Ready to pick your perfect MINI? The U.S. models are coming in Classic and Favoured trims, with a trio of roof colors to mix and match with any body color you fancy. Wheel-wise, you can roll on 17- or 18-inchers. The Cooper S starts at $32,000 (plus those extra fees), with production kicking off in March, while the base model, starting at $28,950 plus fees, begins its assembly line journey in July.
So, whether you're a die-hard MINI fan or just looking for a fun, zippy ride that's got a bit of everything, the 2025 Cooper lineup is looking pretty sweet. Stay tuned for more deets as they come!
