2024 Mercedes eSprinter Arriving In America With 249-Mile Electric Range

Mercedes recently launched its updated version of the eSprinter panel van, which will now be manufactured and sold in North America. This represents a major expansion of Mercedes' electric vehicle offerings in the area, providing businesses with an environmentally friendly and efficient mode of transportation.
The original eSprinter van, which was released in Europe in 2019, had limited range due to its small battery size. The entry-level 41 kWh model could only travel a maximum of 71 miles on a single charge, while the highest-capacity 55 kWh version had a range of 93 miles, making it suitable only for short urban trips.
In simpler terms, the first generation of the eSprinter had a low range and was only suitable for short city trips. That’s why the original eSprinter was not sold in North America, but a newer and more practical version will be available in 2023, starting with production in Germany before moving to the US.
When fitted with the largest battery, the new 2024 Mercedes eSprinter can go up to 311 miles in the city and 249 miles on the highway, according to WLTP ratings. Also, European buyers of the second generation eSprinter van will have multiple battery options to choose from, including 56 kWh and 81 kWh packs for city use and a 113 kWh battery for longer distance work.
These batteries use a special lithium/iron phosphate cell chemistry that does not contain cobalt or nickel. The van also has an 11 kW onboard charger and the ability to charge at fast charging stations with a 115 kW capacity, allowing the 56 kWh battery to be charged to 80% in just 28 minutes and the 113 kWh battery in 42 minutes. Mercedes has also announced that the 2024 eSprinter may be had with either a 134-horsepower or a 201-horsepower engine.
