As Volkswagen expands its lineup of all-electric vehicles, the carmaker will unveil Volkswagen ID 5 SUV-coupé and its GTX performance edition on Wednesday, November 3.
The new vehicle is closely similar to Volkswagen's existing ID 4 SUV. The ID 5 will accompany the ID 3 hatchback and ID 4 as the third Volkswagen electric ID vehicle to go on the market in Europe. It will be available in nearly identical specs to the ID 4, with a variety of battery sizes and single- and dual-motor variants with varying outputs.
Volkswagen ID 5 GTX will employ the same engine as the new ID 4 model, with a 295 hp twin-motor, all-wheel-drive system and a 77kWh battery that will give it a range of approximately 298 miles. The ID 5 will be built alongside the ID 4 in Volkswagen's Zwickau plant for a short time before moving to Volkswagen's Emden plant.
Each year, Volkswagen plans to introduce at least one new ID model based on the VW Group's MEB architecture. Production of the ID Buzz and the ID Vizzion will start in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
