2022 Toyota Tundra Capstone Makes Its Debut As A High-End Pickup
by AutoExpert | 12 January, 2022
Toyota's all-new Tundra Capstone is their entry into the lucrative luxury truck market. The Capstone is a new halo package designed to compete with opponents like the GMC Sierra Denali. Toyota Tundra Capstone provides the glam with chrome mirror caps and 22-inch chrome wheels, the biggest ever available on the Tundra. A chrome grille and “Tundra” writing on the tailgate complete the look.
Power running boards and power bed steps are next on our list. With the latter, the 5.5-foot composite bed can be reached with ease thanks to automated deployment. With its semi-aniline leather seats in a black and white pattern, the Capstone takes the Tundra Platinum and 1794 to the next level of opulence.
Both rows are said to be heated and ventilated, and Toyota has said that drivers would have heated leather steering wheels. The dashboard, doors, and center console of the Tundra Capstone are all adorned with Dark American Walnut. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, an illuminated Capstone logo on the dashboard, and acoustic side glass on the front doors, which is a special trim.
A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an Audio Multimedia infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility are just some of the truck's other features.
Considering the Capstone's position as the top-of-the-line vehicle, it's no surprise that it'll be available only with the i-Force Max hybrid engine. It has a 48-horsepower (36-kW/49 PS) electric motor placed between a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine and a 10-speed automatic gearbox. Keeping with the performance concept, the Tundra Capstone can tow up to 10,340 lbs (4,690 kg) and carry up to 1,485 lbs (674 kg).
Toyota's top-of-the-line model comes standard with a Towing Technology Package that includes Trailer Back Guidance and Straight Path Assist, both of which help improve your towing performance. Buyers may also choose an Adaptive Variable Suspension system, which varies damping force according to driving conditions.
Toyota Tundra Capstone will come with a variety of driver assistance technologies, including Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert, Lane Tracing Assist, and a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection. Automatic High Beams, Road Sign Assist, Rear Seat Reminder, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and a Blind Spot Monitor are among the other features. Full specifics will be provided closer to launch.
The 2022 Toyota Tundra Capstone will be offered solely in a CrewMax form when it arrives in dealerships this spring. As far as we know, the new model will be priced more than the 1794 trim, which starts at $57,690 before adding a $1,695 destination charge.
