The Upcoming AC Cobra GT Roadster Has Been Exposed
by AutoExpert | 3 March, 2023
The AC Cobra GT Roadster is a modern version of the classic Shelby Cobra from the 1960s. It was first teased in December 2022, and although a full reveal is scheduled for April, some images have already been released.
The car features an oval grille, round headlights, a long hood, and flared wheel arches that closely resemble the original Cobra. With the exception of larger wheels and body-colored mirrors, the AC Cobra GT Roadster looks almost identical to the classic car.
Upon closer inspection, the AC Cobra GT Roadster has some modern elements, such as a thicker windshield frame and flush door handles. Carbon fiber outlines the fenders and rocker panels, and LED daytime lamps are visible in the round headlights. The car also has a third brake light and a modern steering wheel with a combination of analog and digital displays, though the interior is not fully visible in the released images.
The company has also revealed some mechanical details about the AC Cobra GT Roadster, including an aluminum spaceframe chassis with a race-tuned suspension, a longer wheelbase of 101.2 inches, and a supercharged Ford 5.0-liter V8 engine that produces 654 horsepower and 575 pound-feet of torque.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels through either a six-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic transmission. According to AC Cars, the GT Roadster is road legal and available for order worldwide. Pricing may vary depending on the region, but in the UK the starting price for the car is £285,000.
