With help from Caterham, Renault will be able to revive the legendary Alpine in less than three years. The official start date was fixed by mid-2015 and mean that the development process is already underway.
Stephen Norman, Renault marketing chief, claims that the model will be far from delicate or timid. Mentioning the forerunner of the segment, Mazda MX-5, Norman said that the future of Alpine aims to be even more extreme than this.
"It will give the public a sporty design, with French aesthetics and technical innovations developed with Caterham," said Norman which also identified the future buyer of Alpine: "a fan of French products."
Technical data is unavailable, but there are rumors that it will be equipped with a Renault engine capable of developing 250 horsepower.
Caterham will have its own version of the model but will use a different engine, probably the supercharged 1.6-liter and 200 horsepower engine that is also installed on Clio RS.
The price will be approachable and in tune with what we find today in Renault's range.
