NAIAS 2016 in Detroit was the scene for Audi H-Tron Quattro Concept's debut, which is a sportive SUV that runs on hydrogen.

The hydrogen consumption reaches approximately 1 kg for 100 km, while it takes only four minutes to have the tank filled. The full tank ensures enough hydrogen for 600 km.

The Audi H-Tron Quattro Concept made its creators look into a big range of technologies in order to ensure mobility and come up with something attractive in the supersaturated marketplace.

This concept is very similar to the Audi E-Tron Quattro concept, which has been presented at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, especially concerning the batteries concept. However, the H in the Audi H-Tron Quattro Concept name comes from Hydrogen.

Audi H-Tron Quattro Concept is based on the second-generation MLB EVO, which is a very versatile platform. The fuel cell is located in the frontal part of the Audi H-Tron Quattro Concept. The fifth generation of fuel cells coming from Audi and Volkswagen is present in this concept, focusing on new materials, which contribute to the lightweight of the vehicle, and to its low platinum level, as well. The technologies allow the car to be started even at a low temperature as minus 28 degrees.

A lithium-ion battery can be found under the floor, in the middle of the cabin, weighing less than 60 kg. Two electric units are able to convert the direct current into the alternating current which is delivered directly to the two electric engines.

The concept works on all-wheel drive, it is completely electrified. The electric engine management focuses on efficiency, while the Audi H-Tron Quattro Concept requires high coordination of the electric engines. The first 100 km/h are reached by Audi H-Tron Quattro Concept in less than 7 seconds, while the top speed is 200 km/h.

The 1.98 m long concept has a solar roof that contributes greatly to the energy management, this one being the most developed car roof ever. In a region like Central Europe, this roof car would ensure the autonomy of 1000 km.

The latest driving and parking technologies have been implemented in the Audi H-Tron Quattro Concept. Radar sensors, photo camera, laser scanner, zFAS are just some of the technologies that make driving less challenging and more pleasant. The car can be controlled from the outside, with the help of a smartphone or remote control integrated into the key.

When it comes to the lights, the Audi H-Tron Quattro Concept can also brag with the latest technologies, like laser Matrix and OLED. The driver has several displays around him, including two on the central console, providing high-quality video images of the surroundings.

The OLED technology is also available to the back passengers, by providing them OLED displays with mass media features.

The chassis has a pneumatic adjustable suspension, while the front and rear axles are lightweight. The Audi H-Tron Quattro Concept runs on 22-inch wheels with 265/40 R22 tires.

The intelligent space usage provides lots of space to the passengers and their luggage, each of the three passengers and the driver having individual sport seats, while the luggage compartment has a volume of 500 liters. The latter can be increased to 1610 liters if the back seats are inclined.

The Audi H-Tron Quattro Concept is 4.88 m long, 1.93 m wide, and 1.54 high, which makes it bigger than Audi Q5 and smaller than Q7.

The exterior design ensures a 0.27 dynamic coefficient, thanks to the aerodynamic exterior details on the lateral and rear sides. For example, at high speeds, the halcyon spoiler can extend at 100 mm, while the diffuser extends to the back.

The interior has a light and clear atmosphere, with the dominant color being a technical grey. The floor is covered with fine Nappa leather, while the relaxing zones are enriched with Alcantara leather.
