Mercedes-AMG has just unveiled the new G 63 4x4². It is the successor to the previous 4x4² and AMG 6x6. As outlandish as previous models, this one is the most potent yet. It's unclear exactly what Mercedes has planned for its SUV, although the automaker did share a few details. It sports a 585-horsepower twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine. This is 163 more than the previous G 500 4x4².
Additionally, the suspension has been significantly improved and portal axles have been added. The ground clearance is 13.8 inches, while the fording depth is 35.8 inches. In addition, the new 4x4² has full-time four-wheel-drive capability.
The expanded fender flares finished in carbon fiber are the most noticeable aesthetic alterations. They hide massive 22-inch wheels with matching rubber. The carbon fiber theme continues on the roof with the off-road light housing and the spare tire carrier. Roof racks and rear ladders, as well as carbon-trimmed rub strips, are offered as extras.
There's even more opulence inside, with Nappa leather and extra ambient lighting. Buyers have the option of customizing the SUV with a wide range of colors and high-quality materials. Cargo area wood floors are also an option, according to Mercedes.
The new G 63 4x4² will only be available for a short period. The price hasn't been published yet, but it's safe to assume it will be expensive.
