Sneak Peek: Mercedes-Benz G500 And AMG G63 Facelift Revealed
by AutoExpert | 26 March, 2024
Official teasers have shown the G500 and the AMG-branded G63 trims of the W463 G-Class, which will shortly get a mid-lifecycle facelift. The aerodynamics will be enhanced, and the inside will get a splash of modernity thanks to the redesign.
When it comes to the powertrain, rumors have it that the revamped G500 would forego the V8 in favor of an electrified inline-six. The G63 will receive a 48V mild-hybrid system, while the AMG-tuned twin-turbo 4.0-liter engine will remain.
The preliminary emission data from Mercedes clearly shows a difference between the two models: 281‒248 g/km CO2 for the G500 and 358‒335 g/km CO2 for the G63. With its new Active Ride Control suspension, the refreshed Mercedes-AMG G63 is supposedly more capable off-road. A diesel G450d and a mild-hybrid diesel G350d will most likely be included in the updated engine selection.
Despite sharing a striking resemblance with its forerunner, the G-Wagen will benefit from improved aerodynamics thanks to some subtle tweaks. Reducing drag allows Mercedes engineers to enhance the BEV's driving range while simultaneously decreasing fuel consumption in ICE-powered vehicles.
Upgraded MBUX infotainment systems will be standard inside the refreshed G-Class at every trim level. More possibilities for trim and upholstery are expected. Given that the actual unveiling of the redesigned Mercedes G-Class is near, we may expect to hear more details about the vehicle shortly.
