Shocking Offer From Dealer: $20,000 For Stolen Chevrolet Corvettes
by AutoExpert | 15 December, 2023
A Memphis dealership is so concerned about the rising number of car thefts that they are offering a $10,000 prize for the safe return of two stolen Chevrolet Corvettes.
Because this kind of crime affects the safety and means of subsistence for its employees, City Auto of Memphis is asking for the community's help. On December 11, the two stolen vehicles—a blue 2015 Corvette Stingray coupe Z51 and a white 2014 Corvette Stingray convertible—went missing.
The president of City Auto, Stan Norton, is requesting information from the public. Call 901-377-9502 and ask for William Brigance, the general manager, if you have any information. This circumstance is part of a larger issue, since there were about 500,000 vehicle theft reports in the first half of 2023—nearly a record number.
It has to be mentioned that there has been an increase in the targeting of Kia and Hyundai vehicles. The states with the most theft reports are California, Texas, Florida, Washington, and Illinois; in the first half of 2023, Texas and Illinois saw the most increases, at 9% and 38%, respectively. It's a worrying pattern that extends beyond this specific instance.
