Modernized versions of the Austin Healey 100 have been introduced by a new manufacturer. Caton, a self-described premium company, is selling just 25 hand-built vehicles, which it describes as a really exhilarating driver's automobile.
The company's updates give the Healey by Caton its own personality. The front grille of the restomod has been reworked to show off the car's performance potential. The front valance has been enlarged to hide the chassis, whereas the distinctive bumpers have been eliminated.
A naturally aspirated 3.0-liter four-cylinder engine with roughly 185 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque fits under the hood. Caton totally dismantles the engine and rebuilds it from the ground up. The engine has a steel crankshaft, upgraded bearing shells, and high compression pistons, among other upgrades. The original three-speed manual transmission has been replaced by a five-speed manual transmission.
For a more modern look, the 72-spoke Borrani wheels have now been painted black. The Austin Healey also looks fantastic with modern Michelin tires that are period-correct. The customers would be ecstatic with the simple yet well-decorated cabin. Leather is plentiful, and it pairs well with the metal and wood accents.
"We elected to upholster the seats in premium Bridge of Weir hide, which enriches the cabin with the fragrance of leather, and will develop a beautiful patina over time," explained design director Darryl Scriven.
Moreover, customers will be able to design their vehicles to their specific needs thanks to customized service. The official debut of this unique Austin Healey will take place at the famous Salon Privé from April 21-23, 2022, with production beginning in the second quarter of 2022. Prices have not been announced.
