The Porsche company officially confirmed the presence of the four-cylinder engines in its models. The statement belongs to the company president, Matthias Müller, quoted by Automotive News.
Even if the Germans from Porsche say they will not accept 4-cylinder engine Boxster and Cayman models, it seems that they have changed their minds.
In 2016 the roadster Boxster and the Cayman coupe will be able to boast 4-cylinder engines, 2, and 2.5 l volume. Matthias Müller said turbines would assist the new propelling, and the power will vary between 286 and 395 hp. It is possible that they will replace the existing 6-cylinder engines boxter 2.7 and 3.6 l volume. Remind that shortly, will make its appearance on the market the most powerful version of the Boxster roadster, called Spyder would have a 6-cylinder engine of 3.8 l volume.
It will be married to a 6-speed manual gearbox or an automatic PDK. It is not known yet the technical details of the new model but certainly will be a superior performance to the previous generation. Also, it is rumored that the Germans would launch an extreme version of the Cayman coupe which will receive the GT4 index. The same as with the Spyder case, all the technical details are kept in secret.
