NACTOY 2022 Winners: Ford Bronco, Maverick, And Honda Civic
by AutoExpert | 12 January, 2022
Although electric cars were entered in all 3 categories of the North American Car, Truck, and Utility Vehicle of the Year Awards in 2022, none of them triumphed. It was instead the Honda Civic, the Ford Maverick, and the Ford Bronco that succeeded in their categories.
In the end, both Ford and Honda emerged victorious, with Ford's new cars entering new markets and Honda's 11th-generation Civic continuing the car's long history of success. In the vehicle of the year category, the Civic was one of 3 finalists, defeating the Mk8 Golf GTI/R and the far more costly Lucid Air.
The Ford Maverick won the truck of the year award, beating out the Hyundai Santa Cruz and the Rivian R1T. Ford must be pleased to have beaten a direct opponent and a fancy new electric vehicle. Ultimately, the Ford Bronco won SUV of the Year over the Genesis GV70 and the all-electric Hyundai Ioniq 5. Ford has succeeded in bringing back an off-road classic despite manufacturing challenges.
