Morgan Plus Four Special Edition To Celebrate 60th Anniversary Of Le Mans Class Victory
by AutoExpert | 18 January, 2022
The 1962 24 Hours of Le Mans saw a Morgan Plus 4 SuperSports win the 2.0-liter class. It's been 60 years since then, and now the manufacturer is celebrating the occasion by releasing a special edition Morgan Plus Four LM62. The unique edition, which is limited to 62 units worldwide, is inspired by the winning racing vehicle and includes a Jet Green or Tertre Rouge bodywork influenced by the racer's dark green.
An LM62 graphics pack is also included, which contains LM62 badging and white roundels with "29" numbers. Silver-painted wire wheels, a domed back panel, and a Le Mans-style fuel filling cap complete the look. Body-colored A-pillars, auxiliary lighting, and an active sports exhaust system with dark tailpipes are among the other features.
Morgan has included a Heritage White hardtop, which is available on the Plus Four for the first time. The inside has an individually numbered plaque, laser-engraved black leather door pulls and stitched headrests. A decorated steering wheel center cap, Tawny wood inlay, and custom glossy lacquer rubber mats with black vinyl edging are among the other details.
Heated Comfort Plus seats with horizontal pleating and perforated centers are also available. A soft top and an LM62-specific photographic construction record are among the choices available to customers. Morgan Plus Four LM62 can now be ordered, and it will be sold in right- and left-hand drive, with a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
It's safe to assume that the turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine from BMW will remain in the vehicle to generate 255 hp (190 kW / 258 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. It allows the regular automatic-equipped vehicle to sprint from 0 to 62 mph (0 to 100 km/h) in 4.8 seconds and reaches a peak speed of 149 mph (240 km/h). The starting price for Morgan Plus Four in the UK is £78,995.
