According to a recent announcement from Audi USA, Audi S1 e-tron Quattro Hoonitron, created especially for Ken Block, will be displayed to the general public in the United States. During Monterey Car Week, it will make its debut at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca.
Audi S1 E-tron Quattro Hoonitron follows FIA safety rules and is driven by two electric motors that are mounted on a carbon fibre chassis and power all four wheels.
Audi Sport Quattro S1, one of the company's most illustrious race cars, served as design inspiration for the Hoonitron. The Walter Rohrl model used to win the 1987 Pikes Peak Hillclimb will be displayed next to it as a tribute to that achievement.
Rohrl's 10-minute and 48-second time set a world record. The record will never be broken because the route was altered in later years to exclude the dirt sections. Power numbers for Audi S1 e-tron Quattro Hoonitron are yet to be revealed. From the 17th until the 21st of August, Audi S1 E-tron Quattro Hoonitron will be on exhibit. There's a good chance we'll learn more there.
