Mercedes-Benz C-Class wins 2015 World Car of the Year

Mercedes-Benz C-Class wins the world car of the year title during New York Auto Show.
The World Car of The Year (WCOTY) contest has been conducted for 10 consecutive years. Some of the semifinalists of 2016 were: Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 2-Series Active Tourer, Volkswagen Passat B8, Nissan Qashqai, and Mazda2. However, the jury awarded the most votes for the new C-Class.
Previously, in 2014 the title went to Audi A3 and VW Golf in 2013. Mercedes has won yet another prize as the AMG GT model was nominated as the best sports car of 2015.
The German coupe has managed to outperform Lexus RC-F, Audi TT and S3, Bentley Continental, and BMW M3/M4.
Citroen Cactus C4 won the title for the best crossover and the BMW i8 was awarded as the greenest car of 2015.
WCOTY contest was launched in 2005 and the first title went to the Audi A6 sedan.
