Local Motors SF+01 Street Fighter might become the cheapest circuit car!

The Americans from Local Motors have organized a design competition in order to find the best project for a circuit car. The contest is over and we have a winner. Here are the details.
The American company Local Motors has made a habit of creating cars in unconventional manners. The first was the Rally Fighter, followed by Strati (the first car in the world created by a 3D printer). And now it's time for a car which looks good on a circuit. Please meet the Local Motors SF-01 Street Fighter, the car that could redefine the standards of toys in track days.
Just like the latter models, Local Motors has asked the online community of designers for some help, in order to achieve a highly accessible (in terms of price) extreme sports car. In the competition that has gathered more than 200 participants, the winner was Greg Thompson.
At the moment, the SF-01 is still in the concept phase, but the ones at Local Motors have already begun searching for viable solutions for the series manufacturing. According to the Americans, the zone meant to host the engine can fit 4 propellers with 4 inline cylinders, 6 inline cylinders and even V8s. Moreover, although it seems impossible, the car will have a small luggage carrier.
In order to keep the costs low, there will be used components that are already available on the market, as well as Hella Bi-Xenon lights and Dodge Dart rears.
If Local Motors will manage to produce this car, it will be a pretty rough blow to the famous names in the world of circuit cars, like KTM X-Bow and Caterham Seven, which are good, but also very expensive.
