Lexus Unveils GX 550 Overtrail For Your Off-Road Adventure
by AutoExpert | 16 January, 2024
Meet the souped-up 2024 Lexus GX 550 Overtrail, a tougher version of the SUV, revealed at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon. Lexus teamed up with Japanese tuner Jaos to make this special version. While you can get the regular GX in the US, it's heading to Japan later in 2024.
This Overtrail edition is all about showing off what the SUV can do off the beaten path. Jaos gave the GX a makeover with a custom bodykit, adding a strong ABS resin front bumper, sleek matte black bolt-on-style fender extensions, tough steel tube side steps, mudguards, and protective aluminum skid plates.
On top, there's a black anodized aluminum Jaos Flat Rack for carrying extra stuff. Rolling on cool Jaos Tribe Cross 18-inch wheels with Toyo Tires Open Country A/T III rubber, the Overtrail gets a boost with lifted springs from Battlez and adjustable dampers from Harmofleq, making it better on bumpy roads.
Under the hood, the GX 550 keeps its powerful twin-turbo 3.4-liter V6 engine, pushing out a solid 349 horsepower and 479 lb-ft of torque. A 10-speed automatic transmission sends power to all four wheels, making the SUV strong and capable. Sharing its base with the Toyota Land Cruiser J250, the Lexus GX 550 Overtrail is set to tackle challenging terrain.
Besides this off-road champ, the Tokyo Auto Salon will also showcase the Lexus LX 600 Offroad Team Jaos, a top-tier SUV that aced the tough 2023 Baja 1000 race with Jaos upgrades. The event promises lots of excitement, showing how Lexus is all about making cars that are ready for adventure. Get ready for a wild ride, with Lexus leading the way in off-road fun!
