Lamborghini CEO will exclude hybrids in the near future!

Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of Lamborghini, is not convinced of the positive contribution of hybrid propulsion systems for models in the brand from Sant'Agata.
Winkelmann believes that the current hybrid Supercars offer a compromised experience by a too high mass and unjustified performance. Winkelmann, also, believes that performance hybrids are either too expensive or suffer from too heavy batteries.
However, Lamborghini CEO does not exclude these propulsion systems for future models of the brand. For comparison, Porsche, Ferrari and McLaren, already, offers hybrid supercars, which are the top range for each of the three brands. Winkelmann considers that the hybrid solution is not feasible for performance models, belonging to the luxury segment, because they have no "normal" price or light batteries.
Therefore, explained Winkelmann, Lamborghini will keep the brand`s DNA, until there is a sufficiently advanced technology to ensure performance in accordance with its requirements.
Among the steps involved in maintaining Lamborghini`s DNA, we can find the aspirated engines, a purpose that few performance-oriented brands scrupulously preserved. Lamborghini solution for increasing performance in the coming years is the improvement of current powertrain and car weight reduction.
