Compact And Capable: Toyota's Urban Cruiser Taisor Hits The Indian Market

The badge engineering partnership between Suzuki and Toyota is growing in countries like South Africa and India. This collaboration has just materialized in the form of the Suzuki Fronx-influenced Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor, a subcompact SUV designed specifically for the Indian market.
Powertrain choices include gasoline, mild hybrid, and compressed natural gas, and the vehicle is based on Suzuki's Heartect platform. Although they share much of the bodywork, the Urban Cruiser Taisor is easily distinguishable from its Suzuki twin thanks to its smaller grille and Toyota-specific LED graphics on the headlights.
Land Cruiser Series 300 headlights served as an inspiration for those narrow DRLs. The addition of Toyota's logo, color scheme, and 16-inch alloy wheels was inevitable. With the exception of the Toyota emblem on the steering wheel, the inside is almost identical to the Suzuki. Although it lacks a digital instrument cluster, the 9-inch standalone infotainment system is compatible with wireless technologies like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The high-spec trims also come with a wireless charging pad and a head-up display. Although Toyota does not include advanced driver assistance systems, it does include six airbags. The Urban Cruiser Taisor and the Daihatsu-based Raize are both tiny SUVs, with dimensions of 157.3 inches, making them the smallest in Toyota's worldwide portfolio.
The Toyota Yaris Cross, available in Europe, Japan, and Australia, is 7.3 inches longer. It is true that the Fronx and the powertrains are interchangeable. There is a CNG-powered version of the standard model as well as one with a normally aspirated 1.2-liter gasoline engine that produces 89 horsepower. A turbocharged 1.0-liter mild-hybrid engine producing 99 horsepower is another option for drivers to choose.
Depending on the powerplant, the front wheels get their power from a five-speed manual gearbox or one of many automatic alternatives. Prices for the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor range from RS 7.74 lakh ($9,279) for the basic model to RS 13.04 lakh ($15,633) for the fully-loaded turbo automatic option, and you can place your order right now in India. Compared to the Suzuki Fronx, which starts at RS 7.52 lakh ($9,016), these numbers put it somewhat higher.
