Cadillac Celestiq's Price Tag Surprises with a Start at $340k

When Cadillac hinted at a ballpark price of around $300,000 for its luxury sedan Celestiq, aiming to rival the opulence of Rolls Royce, many were taken aback. After all, Cadillac, a premier division of GM, hasn't ventured into such premium pricing territory for over seven decades.
However, as production nears, the actual price tag has now been unveiled, and it's even loftier than the initial figures suggested. Melissa Grady Dias, Cadillac's Chief Marketing Officer, took to LinkedIn to announce that the starting price for the Cadillac Celestiq, which she describes as "the blank canvas", will be "approximately" $340,000. This Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) does not account for additional costs like destination charges, taxes, dealer fees, optional add-ons, and the unique customizations that high-end clients often desire – custom touches that Cadillac is all too eager to accommodate.
In her post, Grady Dias expressed her enthusiasm about the upcoming design process for potential Cadillac Celestiq clients. She wrote, “Starting today, Cadillac Celestiq clients will be invited to begin tailoring their design to their unique tastes and preferences. In this personalized journey, clients and their chosen Celestiq Certified Dealer will receive guidance from a dedicated Cadillac concierge throughout the design consultation process."
Considering the range of customization available, and keeping in mind dealer's discretion in setting the final price, customers might find themselves facing a bill significantly higher than the starting $340,000. Grady Dias acknowledges this, emphasizing the statement "Dealer sets final price" in her LinkedIn post. This statement might make some buyers wary, especially those familiar with dealers charging exorbitantly above the MSRP for limited edition cars. However, for the target audience of the Celestiq, this potential markup might not be as daunting.
GM's Global Technical Center in Warren, Michigan, is where the eye-catching Celestiq will be meticulously handcrafted. Additionally, Cadillac is in the process of repurposing a building within the tech center compound into a dedicated personalization hub where buyers can indulge in designing their dream vehicle.
