Build Your Dream: Here's The New Lego Technic McLaren P1 Hypercar
by AutoExpert | 11 July, 2024
A spectacular Lego replica of the McLaren P1 is now available! The hybrid hypercar is now officially a Lego Technic model in 1:8 size. And guess how much it costs? Wait, we'll tell you: it's $449.00. That amount gets you 3,893 parts that must be assembled sequentially.
The bay conceals a detailed 3.8-liter V-8 engine with a seven-speed gearbox, and the dihedral doors open to reveal the interior.
Specifically, it has an adjustable suspension that works as intended, and you can adjust the rear spoiler height to your liking. For aesthetic purposes, the roof has a steep peak, and the side intakes follow the correct lines to the rear. The designers at Lego collaborated with McLaren to fine-tune the set down to the bricks' accurate shade of yellow.
"We wanted to capture these details in the best way possible with our Lego Technic model, and we did not want to compromise in any way," declared Kasper Rene Hansen, designer at Lego Group. "Therefore, we worked on multiple variations of the car to test different designs. We also faced a huge challenge with the iconic butterfly doors because they needed a new mechanism to stay open. It was a great experience to recreate the McLaren P1, and I’m hoping all supercar enthusiasts out there are ready to explore the details and intricacies of the real McLaren P1 in Lego Technic form."
Sales will commence in August, and each kit will receive a unique serial number. For orders placed before August 7, Lego Insiders will be eligible to get a Technic McLaren P1 logo.
