The new upgrade comes from German tuning company Infinitas with ASA Kompressor and is available on all S55-engine powered BMWs. Now that the new S58 engine on M3 and M4 comes with some respectful upgrades, the aforementioned companies decided that modifying the S55 engine will make it an even more popular choice.
The Hybrid Charger is the first system like this to be featured on a series. The biturbo charging and compressor are part of the system, the latter being upstream connected from the initial turbochargers.
This architecture allows the air to be pre-compressed before accessing the turbocharger, which enables a higher boost pressure. The sound coming out of the engine is way stronger and more intimidating, providing performances that correspond to the amazingly powerful sound.
Coming in a variety of configurations, S55 comes with an entry-level of 600 hp and a torque of 590 lb-ft. In other words, the power has been increased by 100 to 190 hp. The belt drive has been extended on this configuration, while the tuner has added a new revised ECU, aluminum charge air cooler right between the compressor and turbochargers, larger-volume cast aluminum tubes, and a new air duct. This entry-level kit is on sale at USD 8.275 and another USD 2.497 for the installing works.
Another four configurations are currently under development, promising to increase the top speed at over 205 mph. The power will also be enhanced to touch 700 hp (SK2 kit), 800 hp (SK2CS kit), and 900 hp for the S3 kit. There’ll also be a top crazy SK3RR kit, pumping 1.000 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque.
