BE 6e And XEV 9e: Mahindra’s Electric Coupe-SUVs Turn Up The Style
by AutoExpert | 28 November, 2024
India’s car scene is shifting gears, and Mahindra’s driving the change with two electric coupe-SUVs that are anything but ordinary. Enter the BE 6e (yep, it’s pronounced “be sexy”) and the XEV 9e, a pair of sleek, futuristic EVs packed with cutting-edge tech. These bold newcomers are set to hit Indian roads in 2025, and they’re ready to turn heads.
The BE 6e is all sharp edges and attitude, rocking slim LED headlights and a stance that demands attention. The larger XEV 9e, while a little more refined, still keeps things fresh with its modern design. Both share the same wheelbase, but the XEV 9e stretches a bit longer, offering more room and an extra dash of luxury.
Step into the BE 6e, and it’s like climbing into a sci-fi cockpit. Dual 12.3-inch screens and an augmented reality heads-up display set the tone, while the ambient lighting and gaming-style seats add a playful, high-tech vibe. Storage is practical, with a decent boot and a small frunk for good measure.
The XEV 9e goes for full-on luxury. Triple screens, premium materials, and a panoramic roof that lights up the cabin give it an upscale feel. And if you’re into music, the 16-speaker Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos is ready to turn your drive into a concert.
Underneath, both EVs ride on Mahindra’s new INGLO platform, designed for performance and comfort. Power options range from 228 hp to 282 hp, with top models hitting 100 km/h in under seven seconds. Battery choices include a 59 kWh pack and a beefier 79 kWh option, delivering impressive range—up to 550 km for the BE 6e and 533 km for the XEV 9e. Fast charging? You’ll go from 20% to 80% in just 20 minutes with a high-speed charger.
Moreover, these SUVs come equipped with AI-driven features powered by Qualcomm’s latest chips. Safety is also a priority, with seven airbags, Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree cameras, and even remote parking.
The BE 6e starts at ₹18.90 lakh ($22,400), while the XEV 9e begins at ₹21.90 lakh ($25,900). Deliveries kick off in early 2025, and these EVs will face off against Tata’s Curvv.EV, Harrier EV, and Safari EV.
Mahindra is increasing its focus on electric vehicles in the coming years, and these coupe-SUVs are just the start. If this is a taste of what’s to come, the future of driving in India is about to get a whole lot more exciting—and maybe even a little sexy.
