Aston Martin Valiant: Fernando Alonso's Vision Becomes A Reality With Only 38 Units
by AutoExpert | 27 June, 2024
Excuse us, but what exactly is this? Of course, it's the Aston Martin Valiant, a version of the Valour that is both extreme and limited to only 38 units globally! Fernando Alonso, a F1 driver, had the idea of creating a private commission.
Launching during the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the road-legal weapon will begin delivering to customers in the fourth quarter of the year.
With a twin-turbocharged 5.2-liter V12 producing 735 horsepower and 555 lb-ft of torque, this special vehicle is a product of Aston Martin's custom division and boasts 30 horsepower more than the Valour while maintaining the same peak torque number.
The carmaker has taken several steps to reduce our body fat percentage. Featuring a magnesium torque tube and a 3D-printed rear subframe, the vehicle sheds 18.9 lb of weight, respectively. New lightweight 21-inch magnesium wheels chopped 31 lbs off the unsprung mass, and a lithium-ion battery cut another 25.3 lbs. Along with that, Multimatic Adaptive Spool Valve Dampers—included as standard on all units—are capable of adjusting to one of 32 damper curves in approximately six milliseconds.
The automaker has made these upgrades in addition to standard carbon ceramic discs—with a huge 16.1-inch front and 14.1-inch rear—and recalibrated Sport, Sport+, and Track driving modes. On the exterior, the Valiant boasts new carbon fiber components like a splitter and multi-layer planes near the front wheels. New side fenders, a full-width carbon fiber grille, and 21-inch wheels with aero discs attached are all seen here.
In addition to a new carbon fiber diffuser, the Aston Martin Valiant has side skirts reminiscent of Formula 1, a towering fixed rear wing, and more. Though the downforce is unknown, it has better traction than the Valour. The Valiant has also altered the transmission tunnel, featuring a cutaway that showcases the breathtaking shifting linkage.
Some of the new carbon fiber components include a half-cage, seats made by Recaro Podium, racing harnesses with four points, and the classic three-spoke steering wheel. According to Marco Mattiacci, Aston Martin's worldwide brand head and commercial executive, the Valiant is a fantastic example of contemporary luxury. With the help of cutting-edge Formula One technology, exotic materials, and a relentless focus on weight reduction, the designers at Aston Martin drew inspiration from a racing icon to create this Q.
“It focuses on placing the driver in a truly unique, intense, and emotional driving experience. The ultimate blend of performance, track-focused dynamics, and hypercar intensity, Valiant embodies Aston Martin’s determined commitment to build rare and extraordinary cars for true drivers.”
