Alarming Fact: Air Pollution Level In UK Are Higher Now Than Before The Pandemic. What Happened?
by AutoExpert | 11 December, 2020
The most positive consequence of a lockdown was the pollution drop – the Earth got to Breath a little and regular walks were real fresh air since all the cars stood aside on the road. Now, when the restrictions were lifted, more brits considered it safer to travel by your own car than in public transport.
Logic, right? But…this means that air pollution will be way up since more cars will be crossing the city.
According to the latest study conducted in 49 UK cities, after the first lockdown, after Easter, the increase was more than the pre-pandemic number in at least 30, and in September there had been registered 34% or 25 % in cities like Bristol and Swansea, the increase was up to 26%.
So far, the best solution to decrease the pollution increase is to create clean zones, using hybrid or EV cars in the city, or take your bike for shorter distances.
