Airless tires a step toward reality!
by AllAutoExperts | 13 December, 2013
Once Polaris introduced the first personal non pneumatic, ATV tires, Bridgestone brings to public attention with a new prototype airless tire for personal cars. The idea of a non pneumatic tire has existed for more than ten years, but only now producers worldwide are considering this concept.
The new Bridgestone non pneumatic prototype is designed for lightweight - the cars which weight 410 kg - and speed that supports the tires is 60 kmph. And this is a clear improvement compared to the previous prototype, allowing a weight of 100 kg and a maximum speed of only 6 kmph.
Everything depends on the structure that takes the place of air, made of thermoplastic resin for Tire wheel Free Air Concept (AFCT) from Bridgestone. And as long as the material will not be sufficiently strong and elastic as to support a conventional car, the success will not be forthcoming.
