789 HP Is Just The Start: Lamborghini’s Temerario Eyes 1,000+ HP

Lamborghini’s new Temerario hasn’t hit the streets yet, but the brand is already teasing even more powerful versions in the pipeline. Rouven Mohr, Lamborghini’s R&D chief, hinted that the car’s hybrid V8—already cranking out an impressive 789 hp—is just the starting point.
According to Mohr, both the combustion engine and electric motors have untapped potential waiting to be unleashed. Currently, the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 runs at 200 hp per liter, but Mohr revealed it could push to 220 hp per liter, bumping the engine’s output to 868 hp.
Add in the triple electric motor setup, which can also be tuned for more power, and the future Temerario could break into four-digit territory. Mohr also shared that Lamborghini briefly considered a V6 for the Temerario but ultimately stuck with a V8, believing it aligns better with the brand’s performance legacy.
While rivals like Ferrari and McLaren have embraced V6 hybrids, Lamborghini sees the V8 as more fitting for delivering the emotional thrill its customers expect. Lamborghini also considered developing a V10, but decided against it due to impending emissions restrictions.
In Mohr’s words, the future is clear: “We can do a big step.” Expect something truly ferocious from Lamborghini in the years ahead.
