US models are powered by a 2.4-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder boxer engine are the most attractive tech specs for this car. Usually, the 2.4-liter engine makes Subaru Outback deliver a 180 bhp, while the upgraded one, in the US, delivers at least 256 bhp. There's no official confirmation on the Europen Subaru Outback's ratings, so we can still hope for more. It's confirmed that both engines will be powered through an eight-speed CVT gearbox.
Subaru wants to make the gearbox offer a retuned (aka upgraded) one, to deliver the same performance as the eight-speed conventional automatic, by using a lower-viscosity oil and the new hydraulics. The latter gives 22% less power loss the in their previous models.
