World's First Tesla-Powered Honda S2000 Produces 500 HP

Honda S2000's reputation was built on its thrilling open-top driving and VTEC power. But can you envisage a Honda S2000 developed for the electric age? Ryan of Rywire Motorsport Electronics did just that, and he needed Tesla's aid to finish the job.
Ryan is known for his immaculate builds of Japanese automobiles, which Hoonigan has previously featured, but he hasn't dabbled in electric vehicles. This Honda S2000 EV project aims to do that. To begin, Ryan had to alter the front end's appearance so that it stood out from the crowd upon the first view. To enhance the EV look, Ryan had to create a pair of aero wheels.
Then there's the drivetrain. This electric S2000 produces roughly 500 horsepower and is powered by a Tesla drive unit. The electric motor at the back is powered by a small battery pack. Two Chevy Volt battery packs with a combined capacity of 38 kWh. The outcome is a range of up to 120 miles, which isn't bad.
Other significant upgrades are required for this electric Honda S2000 to function, including complex electronics handled by Ryan himself. He plans to use this car daily to collect data for his future EV construction.
