Volta Zero Electric Truck Is Back
by AutoExpert | 3 November, 2021
Volta Trucks has introduced the manufacturing-ready Volta Zero, promoted as the world's first purpose-built 16-tonne industrial electric car. It looks a lot like the initial demonstrator truck that was unveiled in October 2019, but Volta claims that every single body panel has been rebuilt and upgraded.
Modifications implemented include the elimination of the front LED light bar, and replacing the diagonal interface between the cab and the cargo area with a continuous line.
Additionally, the original demonstrator's light leather interior was changed with charcoal-colored leather for aesthetic purposes. Moreover, the teak wood flooring has been substituted with rubber matting that is more durable than the initial. In early 2022, Volta Trucks intends to start production of the first 25 Design Verification prototypes.
By the end of the year, production-ready trucks should be prepared to go into manufacturing. The production process of the Volta Zero truck will be handled by Steyr Automotive in Steyr, Austria.
