Unique Ferrari 812 Competizione Auctioned for Charity: A Masterpiece Brought to Life
by AutoExpert | 22 August, 2023
A rare, one-of-a-kind Ferrari 812 Competizione is ready to steal the show at an upcoming charity auction in New York City. What sets this particular V12-powered supercar apart is its hand-drawn livery, crafted by none other than Ferrari's chief designer, Flavio Manzoni.
Manzoni refers to his extraordinary creation as a “sketch car” due to the exclusive livery, which showcases the "hand-transfer of the pen strokes of the drawing from which it was born."
The matte Nero DS (black) strokes on the matte Giallo Tristrato (yellow) bodywork emulate the traditional black sketches on yellow cardboard used in the early stages of Ferrari's design process.
The car's interior follows the same unique theme, with bright yellow and black upholstery, carbon fiber accents, and sketch graphics on the seats. Additional highlights include eco-friendly Alcantara upholstery made from 65% recycled polyester and a SuperFabric floor featuring a black trefoil pattern.
Beyond its exclusive aesthetics, this 812 Competizione maintains its impressive performance stats with a naturally-aspirated V12 engine churning out 818 hp (610 kW / 829 PS) and 695 Nm (513 lb-ft) of torque. With a track-focused chassis, this one-off marvel ensures the same thrilling experience as its 812 Superfast/GTS counterparts.
Presented at the Monterey Car Week, this unique Ferrari will be auctioned at the Ferrari Gala on October 17. The proceeds will be dedicated to supporting educational projects for young people, reflecting Ferrari's commitment to social responsibility.
In a curious coincidence, the Ferrari sketch car was presented at the same event as the sketch-themed Bugatti Chiron Super Sport Golden Era. However, unlike the Bugatti's drawings of other vehicles, Ferrari's creation brings the sketch itself to life, transforming the car into a real-life art piece.
