Toyota's latest unveiling has caused quite a stir as they revealed the highly anticipated fourth-generation Alphard, which was showcased alongside the sleek and stylish Vellfire. These vehicles come equipped with the company's first-ever pull-down sunshades and newly created seats that reduce vibrations for a smoother experience.
The new architecture has increased rigidity by an impressive 50 percent! Additional soundproofing materials and specialized tires reduce interior noise.
Both come with a variety of drivetrain options, including front- or all-wheel drive and a hybrid motor. Future plans include installing a plug-in hybrid system. The Vellfire has a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 275 horsepower and 316 lb-ft of torque, making it the most potent option. The base model Alphard has a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that produces 180 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. You can choose from a CVT, an e-CVT, or an eight-speed automatic transmission.
These beauties boast a width of 72.8 inches, a length of 196.6 inches, and a massive wheelbase of 118.1 inches. Depending on the trim or model, the height is either 76.2 inches or 76.5 inches. Both the Alphard and the Vellfire have a 2+2+2 seating configuration, with captain's seats in the second row.
Alphard models range from 5,400,000 to 8,720,000 yen ($38,000 to $61,400), whereas Vellfire models cost between 6,550,000 to 8,920,000 yen ($46,100 to $62,800). The Alphard is expected to account for 70% of monthly sales and the Vellfire for the remaining 30%, according to Toyota's estimates. The minivans are now up for grabs and ready to be ordered in Japan.
