Oh, look who just rolled in - the fancy new BMW iX2! Scheduled for its premiere in 2024, the iX2 marks BMW's venture into the realm of all-electric vehicles, stemming from the success of their popular BMW X2 line.
The iX2 will debut in the xDrive30 variant, featuring a blend of electric motors at both the front and rear axles, resulting in a combined power output of 309 hp and 364 lb-ft of torque. The iX2 xDrive30 showcases impressive acceleration, clocking 0-62 mph in 5.6 seconds and reaching a top speed of 112 mph!
The driving range, according to WLTP standards, varies between 259 and 279 miles, courtesy of its 64.8 kWh battery pack. Standard features for the iX2 xDrive30 include specialized 17-inch light alloy wheels and a regenerative braking system. Additionally, the front and rear bumpers boast reinforced cross members, strategically designed to enhance the battery's safety in case of a collision.
BMW has furnished the iX2 xDrive30 with their pioneering Combined Charging Unit, facilitating AC charging at a standard rate of 11 kW. This translates to a complete charge from 0 to 100% in approximately 6.5 hours. When utilizing a 22 kW AC charger, the charging time is substantially reduced to 3 hours and 45 minutes.
Furthermore, the iX2 supports a 130 kW DC charger, further expediting the charging process. With this option, the battery can be charged from 10-80% in just 29 minutes. Prospective buyers of the BMW iX2 have the choice to opt for the Connected Home Charging package, aimed at curbing energy expenses and minimizing the SUV's ecological footprint.
This package includes load-optimized charging, a system that automatically adjusts the charging rate based on the available household power. Additionally, it uses the solar panels on the house to generate energy. Notably, the iX2 is presently not part of BMW's plans for the U.S. market.
