That's a bold affirmation, but it's true in some of the critical areas. The automaker recently announced that they will give a battery warranty for 8 years or for the first 175,000 miles. Usually, for a regular car, you would take no more than a five to six-year warranty. Rivian shows some confidence for such a long figure.
This full warranty information is available only for the Rivian R1T and R1S models. The American car company is new on the market but is developing really fast becoming one of the high-profile electric carmakers - a true rival for Elon Musk's Tesla company.
If we compare the warranty with the mile limits of 175 miles, it should be more than enough. The average driver would make a medium of 10,000-15,000 miles per year which should be enough for at least the first 5 years. Meanwhile, Tesla being an electric car offered only 4-years/50,000-mile warranty. And this is the first successful step of the Rivian cars overcoming the Teslas.
The offered battery pack warranty includes "all components inside the high-voltage battery" Also, there's the retaining of a usable battery capacity of 70% or more for the same 8years/175,000-miles. In case of errors, the company will replace them with no questions asked.
Other warranties for the same amount of time/miles include the ones for drivetrain components; perforation warranty including the aluminum body panels, the purchased charger will get a 5-years warranty. The best thing about it is that the warranty can be passed on to the next driver. The only of getting a warranty voided "due to improper maintenance, service or repair."
