Mercedes-AMG E63 Final Edition Marks The End Of Pure V8 Saloons
by AutoExpert | 31 May, 2022
The pure-combustion V8 sports saloons will be phased out after this new Mercedes-AMG E63 Final Edition. The news follows the unveiling of two concept cars, the Vision AMG and a prototype for the next-generation Mercedes-AMG C63 PHEV, which anticipate the AMG's electrified vision.
AMG's V8 engine will remain an important part of the company's long-term plans. Still available, however, it will be replaced by an electrified four-cylinder engine in the future E63. When it arrives in 2024, the next-generation E63 is expected to feature a version of the same PHEV system that will power the C63.
For an overall output of 670bhp, this setup includes a 470bhp 2.0-liter petrol engine and a 201bhp electric engine on the rear axle. Now, the Mercedes-AMG E63 Final Edition delivers 603bhp and 627 pound-feet of torque to both axles via an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Only 999 units will be made, with unique matt grey paint and other distinguishing elements that set it apart from the conventional vehicle. For now, we don't know how much the Mercedes-AMG E63 Final Edition will cost.
